Quiet streets suit a predictable clean
Long Beach sits north of the bridge and stays quiet most of the year, which suits a lot of the people we help with NDIS domestic assistance. It's mostly family homes here, with the holiday houses filling up in season, so day to day it's a calm street to live on and an easy place to keep a regular booking running without a fuss. Sand underfoot is a safety job, not a chore
The long sandy beach and the spit are what define Long Beach, and the beachfront homes really do cop the salt and the sand. For an NDIS participant that isn't just a cosmetic thing. Sand tracked through the house is a slip and trip risk on hard floors, and it builds up fast in doorways and along skirting if nobody is on top of it. Salt film on glass and aluminium dulls the light coming into a room, which is no good if low light or glare already makes getting around the home harder.
So our domestic assistance here leans into the local conditions rather than ignoring them. We keep entry floors, thresholds and the main walking paths clear of sand first, because that's the safety job. We wipe down the salt on sliding doors and windows so the place stays bright. We use low-tox products throughout, which matters more when someone is home all day, has breathing sensitivities, or has a support worker and family coming and going.
Carpets that take a beating from the beach
Family homes in Long Beach tend to be carpeted, and we already do a lot of regular carpet cleaning through this pocket. With sand getting walked in off the beach, carpet here wears and grits up quicker than it would further inland. For an NDIS household that has knock-on effects: gritty carpet is harder on a wheelchair or walker, and trapped sand and dust feed allergies and asthma.
Within a domestic assistance routine we keep the carpets vacuumed properly and the high-traffic runs clear, and we can flag when a deeper carpet clean is worth booking so the home stays healthy underfoot rather than letting the sand grind in. If a carpet clean falls under your plan we'll make sure it's written up clearly and separately so it's easy to match against your supports.
How the plan and the invoicing actually works
We work with both self-managed and plan-managed participants. Cleaning is our standard $60 an hour plus GST, itemised on the invoice. If you're self-managed we invoice you direct, and if you're plan-managed we send the invoice to your plan manager. Either way the invoice is plain and clear, with the date, the hours and the Assistance with Daily Life (household tasks) line spelled out, so it lines up with your plan and your plan manager isn't chasing us for detail. We aren't registered to handle agency-managed plans, so if your plan is managed by the NDIA directly we'll be upfront about that from the first call.
Booking is a normal phone chat on 0479 184 498, not a form to wrestle with. We'll sort out a regular day and a rough run sheet of what matters most to you in the home, then keep to it. On a quiet Long Beach street that regular slot is easy for us to protect week to week.
Already on your street, no drive built into the bill
Long Beach has plenty of holiday lets that need reliable changeovers in season, and we do that side of the work here too. For an NDIS participant living among them, the upside is that we're already on the street regularly and know the area well, so fitting your domestic assistance into our Long Beach run is straightforward and we aren't travelling in cold. The flip side is the seasonal noise and the comings and goings next door, which can be a lot if you value a settled home.
