North Durras sits right at the northern edge of our run. It's genuinely off the beaten track, a long road in past the bush before you get anywhere near the houses. A lot of cleaners either won't drive that far for a regular fortnightly job or they whack a travel fee on top to make it worth their while. We don't. North Durras gets the same rate as Batemans Bay, no travel surcharge, even for an older resident who only needs a couple of hours every week or two.
That distance is exactly why a reliable regular clean matters so much for the older people living here. When the shops, the chemist and your usual help are all a decent drive back down the highway, you can't easily nip out and sort the house yourself. Knowing the same team is locked in to turn up keeps the place on top of itself without you having to think about it or call around for someone every time.
Slip-safe floors when there's sand and bush dust coming in both ends
Up at North Durras the floors take a hammering from two directions at once. You have got the beach right there, so sand walks in on shoes and the odd sandy kangaroo print across the sand if anyone has been down the front. And you've got Murramarang National Park on the doorstep, so bush dust, fine grit and leaf litter blow in off the bush side. For a younger holidaymaker that's just a vacuum job. For an older resident, fine sand and grit sitting on hard floors and tiles is a genuine slip hazard, especially on the way to the bathroom.
So slip-safe floors are the part of the home care clean we take most seriously here. We get the sand and grit up properly rather than just pushing it around, we don't leave floors wet and slick behind us, and we use low-tox products so there's no slippery residue and no harsh fumes hanging in a closed-up beach house. Bathroom and laundry floors, the spots where a fall does the most damage, get the closest attention every visit.

If your cleaning is funded through a Home Care Package, we're happy to work in with your provider. We already deal with the likes of My Home Care and Goodwin, so we know how the side of it works, the scheduling, the sign-offs and keeping it all straightforward for you and your coordinator. You don't have to be the go-between. We can sort the practical arrangements with the provider and you just get a clean house.
Because North Durras is so far out, having a provider-funded clean locked in is doubly handy. It means there's a regular reason for someone reliable to come down that long road and lay eyes on the place and on you, which is no small thing when you're living a fair way from the nearest neighbour.
Salt air, closed-up shacks and the things that build up out here
The salt air at North Durras is hard on glass and aluminium, same as everywhere along this coast, and it builds up on shower screens and window tracks. But older beach homes up here have a particular issue. A lot of them are the original beach shacks, often shut up tight against the bush and the weather, and that combination of salt, bush damp and a closed-up house lets grime and mustiness settle in fast. On a regular home care clean we keep on top of the screens, the tracks, the kitchen and the bathroom so none of it gets away on you between visits.

North Durras flips between dead quiet and packed out. Through the holidays the shacks around you fill with guests, the beach gets busy and the road in gets a lot more traffic. For a permanent older resident that can be a noisy, hectic stretch, and it's the time you least want to be worrying about the house. We keep your regular clean ticking over right through it, the same as any other week.
